Complete Performance Report of Nigerian Players Abroad at the Weekend

A handful of Nigerian players abroad were on the goal scoring charts for their respective clubs over the Weekend.


Leon Balogun due to suspension for his Mainz 05 side while compatriot Anthony Ujah came off as a 81 minutes substitute as their side lost 0-1 at home to Schalke 04.


Wilfred Ndidi played all 90 minutes for Leicester city while compatriot Kelechi Iheneacho came in as a 60th minute substitute and scored in the 76th minutes as the Foxes won 1-4 away at Westbromich Albion.

Victor Moses was an unused substitute for Chelsea as his side 2-1 at home to Crystal Palace.

Chidozie Awaziem played all 90 minutes for his Nantes side as they recorded 1-0  home win against Troyes.

Ebubehi Tryonne saw 67 minutes of action for his Den Hagg as they lost at home 0-2 to Breda which featured Sadiq Umar for 90 minutes.

Ogbeche was an unused substitute for his Williem 11 side as they thrashed PSV 5-0 at home.

Brown Ideye and Issac Success both came in as substitute in the 78th minutes as their Malaga side lost 0-2 at home to Barcelona.

Emem Eduok found the back of the net for his Kasimpasa side while compatriot Kenneth Omeruo played all 90 minutes as their side played a 2-2 draw away to Sivasspor.

Aminu Umar was on target for his Osmanlispor side as they beat Buraspor 2-1 at home,  compatriots Mikel Agu and Shehu Abdullahi featured for Buraspor while Troost-Ekong was an unused substitute.


Alex Iwobi played only 66 minutes for Arsenal as they got a morale boosting 3-0 victory against Watford at the Emirates.

Simy came in as a 70th minute substitute for his Corotone side as they won 4-1 at Sampordia.

Oghenekharo Etebo lasted 46 minutes for his Las Palmas side as they lost 0-2 at home to Villareal.

Samuel Kalu was on target for his Gent,  while his compatriot Moses Simon played all 90 minutes as they defeated Genk 1-2 away.

Ajagun played all 90 minutes for his Kortrijk side as they won 2-0 away at Charleroi.

Peter Olayinka was on target for his Waregem side as they won 0-2 away at Lokeren.

Joseph Akpala scored one for the goals for his Oostende side as they lost 2-3 at home to Standard Liege, compatriot Uche Agbo featured for the away side.


Former Enugu Rangers Striker Alhaji Gero was the hero for Oestersunds as his lone strike secured a 1-0 home win against second division club GAIS in the quarter-finals of the Swedish Cup on Sunday.

Gero who came in the 66th minute scored with only four minutes remaining in the hugely contested game.

Oestersunds now join Malmo, who edged IFK Goteborg 1-0 in Saturday’s other quarter-final, in the semi-final match.
